Mobile Objectives:

Provide consumers with an automatically updating, headline driven mobile version of USATODAY.com, offering consumers direct access to leading news, entertainment, sports, technology and business content. A mobile site also offered an additional revenue stream through mobile advertising. USA TODAY sought a solution that was scalable and flexible so that new content, features and utilities could be added as technology and handsets evolved. Lastly, USA TODAY wanted to ensure that any mobile subscriber would be able to easily access the mobile solution, both on carrier decks and by simply typing USATODAY.com into their mobile browser, resulting in mass distribution.
 

Solution:

Crisp Wireless designed a layout for USA TODAY mobile including a user interface that was simple and straightforward, providing easy access to top stories. A few central design attributes achieved this objective, including a large homepage image with top headlines broken out by section, with the top ten headlines correlating with the phone keypad to enable quick navigation throughout the site. One of the bigger challenges was seamlessly integrating USA TODAYs various content partnerships and data feeds including Weather.com, The Associated Press and MarketWatch. Crisp Wireless has worked with USA TODAY on an ongoing basis to continually support new enhancements and site functionality including interactive polls, real time stock quotes, image galleries, and local weather.
